Last year we reported on a range extender engine developed by Lotus for use in hybrid cars. The range extender engine was part of a joint project between Lotus, Jaguar, MIRA and Caparo in conjunction with the Technology Strategy Board and was designed to provide charge – rather than drive – for hybrid cars. A solution that seems far more elegant than the current Prius-type setups.
Peugeot 207 CC and 308 CC Roland Garros
Peugeot – an official sponsor of the French Open – has revealed Roland Garros Special editions of the 308CC and 207CC. There’s nothing like a special edition to move a few cars – especially when they’re nearing the end of their shelf life – and even better if you can tie in a bit of Sponsorship goodness in the process. Which explains Peugeot’s decision to put together special editions of the 207CC and 308CC with a bit of ‘Tennis’ thrown in to the mix with ‘Roland Garros’ badges (Peugeot are sponsors of the French Open at Roland Garros)
The Peugeot 207 CC Roland Garros comes in either Onyx Black or Bianca White with a choice of the 1.6 litre VTi or the 1.6 litre HD 112 diesel.

Renault today confirmed the full spec of UK-bound hot Méganes. The new Mégane Renaultsport 250 will cost from £21,995 and – like other Renaultsport models – will be available in regular and Cup specs. For wimps or wheelmen, you could say.The 'regular' Mégane Renaultsport will cost £1000 more, adding leather trim, heated and electrically adjusted driver's seat, dual-zone climate control and automatic wipers.
